Jung Do Hoon is a weary advertising designer drowning in the monotony of office life, his days a blur of late nights and takeout containers. Everything changes when a familiar face moves into the apartment next door: Lee Yoon Soo, a former college junior who once disappeared from his life without a word. Now a charismatic chef, Yoon Soo wastes no time reconnecting, showing up at Do Hoon's door with a steaming bowl of sweet rice soup and an easy, flirtatious smile. As Yoon Soo's cooking begins to thaw Do Hoon's routine, the two rediscover the memories they once shared—and the feelings Yoon Soo never forgot. With gentle humor, tender meals, and a cast of quirky coworkers and a persistent ex, *Bon Appetit* serves up a heartwarming tale of second chances, self-discovery, and the quiet courage it takes to open your heart. I devoured this in one sitting! The way Yoon Soo cooks his feelings into every dish just melted me. Do Hoon's shy smiles and slow realization made my heart flutter constantly. Sure, it's not groundbreaking, but it's pure comfort food for the soul. If you want a warm hug in BL form, this is it.

I can't ignore how thin the plot is. The office scenes drag on forever with no payoff, and the big conflict in episode 7 relies on a ridiculous misunderstanding that could've been solved in 30 seconds. The leads have okay chemistry, but the writing doesn't give them enough depth to truly shine. Decent for a lazy afternoon, nothing more.

As someone who read the original Japanese manga 'Meshiagare Ai wo', I appreciate what the drama tried to do by adding food-description layers. But the rushed pacing and changed backstory (the restaurant setup) lost some of the cozy charm. The actors did their best with the material; Lee Ki Taek's performance as the cheerful chef really grew on me.

I liked the overall positive queer representation—no coming-out trauma, just two men falling in love. However, I found it troubling how Yoon Soo's initial pursuit bordered on stalking (moving in next to his crush on purpose) and the casual non-consensual kiss from the ex. It's swept under the rug too easily. A sweet story with some uncomfortable undertones.

The cinematography is simple but effective—warm lighting on the cooking scenes, soft focus on the leads' intimate moments. I especially loved the color palette: earthy tones for the kitchen contrasting with the cold grays of Do Hoon's office. The food shots are drool-worthy. Not a masterpiece, but aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes.
