With just ten days until a meteor annihilates Earth, the world descends into chaos—but for Masumi, a quiet librarian, the apocalypse feels oddly freeing. He retreats to his library, ready to spend his final days alone. Then Ritsu, his charismatic and deeply flawed ex-boyfriend who shattered his trust a decade ago, walks back into his life with a dark proposal: help him dispose of a body. That 'body' turns out to be Yuma, a mysterious teenage boy who isn't dead. As Masumi, Ritsu, Yuma, and a non-binary runaway named Meguru journey across a crumbling Japan to get Yuma home, they form an unlikely found family. This isn't just a road trip to survival—it's a raw, messy exploration of second chances, buried trauma, and the desperate need to find meaning when time is running out. Adapted from the manga, this series balances heartbreaking intimacy with glimmers of hope, proving that even at the end of the world, human connection can be a miracle.

I went in expecting just another end-of-world fluff, but this drama wrecked me in the best way. The chemistry between Masumi and Ritsu is electric—every glance, every touch carries years of hurt and longing. The found family with Yuma and Meguru made me cry so hard. Yes, Ritsu is toxic, but that's the point. His growth feels earned. A masterpiece of melancholy and hope.

The acting is solid and the intimacy scenes are refreshingly realistic, but the story suffers from gaping logic holes. Ritsu's sudden redemption feels unearned, and the whole 'Yuma has secret powers' subplot is introduced and never explained. The ending is a cop-out—they try to have it both ways. I wanted to love it, but the writing let down the cast.

As a social analyst, I appreciate that the drama doesn't romanticize Ritsu's past cheating—it shows the lasting trauma and includes a scene where Masumi explicitly says sex is a trust issue for him. However, the narrative still pushes us to forgive Ritsu too quickly. The non-binary representation with Meguru is fantastic (and played by a non-binary actor), but the underlying message about 'love conquers all abuse' made me uncomfortable. Worth watching for the discussion it sparks.

I stayed for the story but fell in love with the soundtrack. That gentle lullaby-like song at the end of each episode perfectly captures the bittersweet 'end of the world' mood. The background score never overwhelms the dialogue—it sits softly underneath, amplifying every emotional beat. The moans in the intimate scenes without music? Genius. Sound design deserves an award.

Having read the manga, I was thrilled by how faithfully they adapted the core story—especially Yuma's magical hints and the ambiguous ending. But the drama cuts some of Ritsu's more vulnerable backstory chapters, which makes his character seem flatter. Also, they changed Madoka's brother to a non-binary character, which I actually loved, but purists might grumble. Overall a solid adaptation, but the manga is richer.
