High school senior Narasaki just wants a quiet corner to study, so volunteering at the library seems perfect—until he's saddled with supervising Terashima, a notorious delinquent known for skipping class and stirring up trouble. Expecting a nightmare, Narasaki instead discovers a gentle, unexpectedly perceptive young man hiding behind a rough exterior. As library shifts turn into shared lunches, whispered conversations, and stolen glances, the two misfits forge an unlikely bond that slowly blossoms into something deeper. Blue Sky Complex is a tender, slow-burn romance that celebrates the quiet beauty of first love, the courage it takes to let down your guard, and the magic of finding your person in the most unexpected place. With only five episodes, this compact Japanese BL delivers a heartfelt, low-stakes story perfect for a cozy watch.

I absolutely adored this! The way Narasaki and Terashima slowly open up to each other gave me all the feels. Their library scenes are so beautifully shot, and the confession had me kicking my feet. Pure, innocent love at its best.

It's charming, but I wish they'd fleshed out the side characters more. The delinquent-with-a-heart-of-gold trope is predictable, and the resolution felt rushed in the last episode. Still, the main pair's chemistry saves it from being forgettable.

The lighting in the library scenes is gorgeous – soft golden hues that perfectly mirror the warmth of their growing bond. The director made great use of close-ups to capture micro-expressions. It's not groundbreaking, but visually very pleasing for a low-budget series.

I appreciated how the series handled consent and boundaries even in a school setting. Terashima repeatedly checks in before any physical touch, and Narasaki's shyness is respected. A nice example of healthy communication in a BL drama, even if the power dynamics could've been explored a bit more.

The insert song that plays during their first real hand-hold literally made me tear up. The background piano tracks are simple but perfectly match the melancholic yet hopeful mood. I've had the theme on repeat for weeks.
