The chaotic love story of actors Akafuji Yuichiro and Aoyanagi Hajime enters its gloriously messy next chapter. Now officially a couple, the two should be basking in honeymoon bliss—but instead, they’re plunged into a whirlwind of over-the-top misunderstandings, jealous spirals, and the kind of ridiculous schemes only a fanboy-turned-boyfriend could dream up. When a new actor, the enigmatic Kuromiya Ryoga, joins their drama set, old insecurities and unspoken feelings bubble to the surface, pushing their communication (or lack thereof) to hilarious new extremes. Meanwhile, the supporting cast—including the surprisingly compelling manager couple—get their own moments in the spotlight. This six-episode sequel doubles down on the satire, deadpan humor, and fourth-wall-breaking inner monologues that made Season 1 a cult hit, delivering a lighthearted, self-aware romp through the absurdities of love and the entertainment industry.

I don’t care what anyone says—Akafuji and Hajime are PERFECT together. Yes, they’re idiots who can’t communicate, but that’s what makes them so endearing! Every zoom-in, every dramatic thought bubble, every ridiculous costume—I was grinning from ear to ear. The managers’ love story was the cherry on top. Give me a spin-off, please!

Look, Season 1 was fun because the miscommunication made sense before they were together. Here, it just feels like lazy writing—they repeat the same beats with no real growth. The dead-fish kisses haven’t improved, and the pacing drags in the middle. The manager couple saved it from being a total skip, but overall, this season coasted on nostalgia rather than delivering a solid story.

Honestly, I watched this whole season for Kijima and Yukari. Their dynamic is so much more mature and intriguing—the way they dance around each other while secretly pining? Chef’s kiss. I wish the show had given them at least half the screen time. The main couple is still cute in that hapless, chaotic way, but the managers are the real MVPs.

While I appreciate the comedic tone, I found the constant lack of honest communication between the leads more frustrating than funny. They’re supposed to be dating, yet there’s no growth in how they handle conflict—just more sneaking around and assumptions. The manager couple’s deception also felt icky to me. A little more emotional maturity would have gone a long way.

Visually, this season is a treat. The use of split screens, rapid zooms, and exaggerated lighting during inner monologue moments is spot-on for the parody genre. I especially loved the sauna scene’s censorship gag and the maid costume reveal—the blocking and camera work made the comedy land hard. The plot is thin, but the directing choices kept me engaged.
