A breathtaking, cinematic journey of first love and self-discovery, *I Told Sunset about You* follows former childhood best friends Teh and Oh-aew. After a painful falling-out turned them into bitter rivals, they reunite years later while preparing for university entrance exams in Phuket. As they rekindle their connection while studying for communication arts, the lines between friendship and something far deeper blur. Teh, a straight-A student haunted by his own internalized fears, and Oh-aew, a confident but insecure young man, navigate jealousy, longing, and the storm of adolescent confusion. Set against the golden-hued landscapes of Phuket and underscored by a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, this five-episode mini-series transcends typical BL tropes. It’s a raw, tender exploration of sexual identity, sacrifice, and the courage it takes to say what’s really in your heart. With movie-grade cinematography and two career-defining performances by Billkin and PP Krit, *ITSAY* is not just a romance—it’s an emotional experience that will linger long after the credits roll.

This is THE BL that raised the bar. Billkin and PP are not acting—they are Teh and Oh-aew. Every tear, every shaky breath, every time Teh sniffs the coconut—I felt it in my soul. The underwater kiss scene? I replayed it ten times. Pure, heartbreaking perfection.

As a film student, I am in awe of the cinematography. The way they use color—red for longing, purple for denial—and the long takes of the Phuket sunsets... it's like watching a moving painting. The bra scene alone is a masterclass in visual storytelling. A few minor pacing issues in episode 4, but overall a visual feast.

I can see why people love it, but I struggled. Teh’s immature decisions—giving up his university place?—felt less like character growth and more like forced drama. The crying went overboard for me; I ended up laughing during the supposed emotional climaxes. Visually stunning, but I need smarter characters to invest in.

What struck me most was the honest portrayal of internalized homophobia. The 'bra scene' and the 'self-pleasure scene' are uncomfortable but necessary—they show how society wrecks queer kids from the inside. I also loved the subtle class commentary. The ending gave a happy note but didn't erase the pain. A serious, important drama, though the pace drags.

I’m obsessed with the OST. Billkin’s 'Skyline' and PP’s cover in Chinese? Chills every time. The way the music swells during the ig-story fight scene and then drops to silence when Teh opens the book... genius. The songs are the heartbeat of the series. One point off because I wish they released more instrumental tracks.
