Kim, the meticulously perfectionist executive director of Hotel Villa De Bangkok, has built his life around order and control after the sudden loss of his parents. But when a charmingly chaotic pastry chef named Pat is hired to revamp the hotel's dessert menu, Kim's carefully managed world begins to crumble—one stolen glance, one shared recipe, one accidental brush of hands at a time. As Kim learns that the sweetest things in life often come from letting go, Bitter Sweet explores a slow-burn romance between two men from opposite worlds: one bound by duty, the other driven by passion. With each beautifully filmed baking session and hidden smile, the series serves up a heartfelt story about grief, self-discovery, and the courage to taste happiness again. Complete with mouthwatering patisserie visuals and a supportive ensemble cast, this Thai miniseries is a deliciously tender escape for anyone craving a food-themed BL with emotional depth.

I'm a sucker for food-themed BL and Bitter Sweet delivered everything I wanted. The chemistry between Kim and Pat is so natural – you can feel the tension just from them whisking cream together! The pastry shots are drool-worthy and the emotional beats really hit home. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.

It's cute but the pacing drags in episodes 4-5 and the side characters (especially the hotel staff) feel underdeveloped. The business subplot about revamping the menu is resolved too conveniently. Still, the lead actors have decent chemistry and the finale is satisfying. A solid watch if you're in the mood for fluff without thinking too hard.

This series is visually stunning. The warm lighting in the kitchen, the pastel color palette of the desserts, and the way they frame Kim's sterile office versus Pat's messy bakery – it's a feast for the eyes. The director clearly loves close-ups of hands mixing dough and drizzling chocolate. My inner cinematography geek is very happy.

The soundtrack is the unsung hero of Bitter Sweet. The main theme, a soft acoustic guitar piece, perfectly captures the slow-burn vibe. The instrumental that plays during the baking montages is so soothing – I've been listening to it on repeat. If only they released a full album! The ending song by the lead actor is also surprisingly good.

I appreciated how this BL handles consent and boundaries. Kim never forces Pat to open up about his past, and Pat respects Kim's need for space. The workplace power dynamic is addressed subtly – Kim is Pat's boss, but the show makes sure their romance develops outside of work hours with equal footing. A refreshing take that doesn't romanticize hierarchy.
