Better Days is a tender Filipino BL series that serves up a heartwarming story of reconnection, self-discovery, and simmering romance, all set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Childhood friends Kian and Aron are reunited when Kian returns to his family’s provincial farm to escape the city lockdown. Aron, now the caretaker of the property, has quietly endured loss and loneliness since their separation. Despite an awkward reacquaintance marked by Kian's immaturity and their unequal social roles, the two slowly rebuild their bond. Together, they decide to revive a shuttered restaurant that once belonged to their families, blending Kian's vlogging skills with Aron's culinary talents. As they cook, bicker, and share vulnerable moments, the line between friendship and something deeper begins to blur. The series captures the quiet beauty of slow-burn affection, the pain of unresolved childhood wounds, and the universal hope for better days ahead. With a genuine, understated charm and mouthwatering depictions of Pinoy cuisine, this miniseries is a gentle escape for those craving authentic emotional storytelling.

I went in expecting nothing but this little series stole my heart! Kian and Aron have such a soft, believable chemistry—they bicker like actual childhood friends, and the way they slowly open up to each other made me smile every episode. It's not steamy, but the emotional payoff in the final scene was worth everything. Perfect comfort watch.

I appreciate the attempt at a grounded pandemic story, but the writing is full of holes—how does the restaurant just have all its equipment ready after years? And the final episode rushes through major events like the father's death without giving it any weight. The leads are likeable but the script needed more polish. It's okay for a quarantine project, but not a standout.

For a low-budget miniseries, Better Days has some surprisingly lovely cinematography. The golden hour shots at the farm, the close-ups of sizzling pans and adobo—really immersive. The color palette leans warm and nostalgic. Not everything is technically perfect (some rough cuts), but the visual storytelling around food and memory is quite effective.

I struggled with the power dynamics here. Kian is the boss's son, Aron is essentially his live-in employee, and Kian repeatedly pulls pranks and throws tantrums that exploit that imbalance. The series tries to resolve it, but I never felt Aron had true agency—he’s always the one adapting. The lack of clear romantic consent (they never even discuss their feelings properly) was disappointing. A missed opportunity to model healthy relationships.

The OST is the hidden gem of this series! 'Lahat ay Posible' by Carlos Dala is so hopeful and catchy, and Benedix's own song 'Nandito' plays at just the right emotional moments. The background music during cooking scenes adds a gentle, cozy vibe. I often rewatch specific scenes just for the music. Worth it for the soundtrack alone.
