Ki Jin is a passionate fashion design student with a dream of becoming a world-class designer, but his path to the top of Seoul's competitive fashion scene is anything but easy. When he crosses paths with Yeong Woo, a kind-hearted but aimless deliveryman, an unexpected spark ignites between them. As Ki Jin pours his soul into his designs and Yeong Woo stumbles into modeling, their relationship deepens into something real and vulnerable. But chasing big dreams comes with painful sacrifices, and a year-long separation forces them to confront what they truly want. *Behind Cut* is a raw, emotionally charged Korean BL film that refuses to spoon-feed its story – instead, it trusts viewers to piece together the beautiful, messy fragments of love, ambition, and the space between them. With an indie film sensibility and standout central performances, this is a heartfelt drama for those who appreciate authentic, imperfect romance.

I actually really enjoyed this despite the mixed reviews. The chemistry between Ki Jin and Young Woo felt so natural and heartfelt. That kiss scene was amazing – no dead fish here! I was rooting for them the whole time. Yes, the plot was a bit messy, but the emotional payoff worked for me. Definitely worth a watch if you're a hopeless romantic like me.

The premise is fine but the execution is a mess. The time jump and the year-long separation made no sense – why did Ki Jin disappear? What happened? The film refuses to explain anything. It's like watching a rough draft. The acting is decent but the story falls apart in the last 20 minutes. I can't recommend this to anyone who values coherent storytelling.

I'm a sucker for beautiful cinematography and this film delivers in spades. The lighting in the fashion design scenes, the framing of intimate conversations, and the costumes – especially Ki Jin's outfits – are stunning. It feels more like an indie art film than a typical BL. The audio quality is inconsistent but the visual storytelling is captivating. I'll forgive some plot issues for the sheer aesthetic pleasure.

There are some interesting themes here about pursuing dreams vs love, but the way the one-year separation is handled raises red flags. Ki Jin disappears without explanation and then is just accepted back with a single apology? That's not healthy relationship behavior. Also, the past between Young Woo and Yi Bin is left ambiguous – were they exes? The film lacks clear consent dynamics. It's frustrating because it could have said something meaningful.

I was more invested in Young Woo's relationship with his father and the side character Yi Bin than the main romance. The glimpses into Young Woo's past with Yi Bin were intriguing – I wanted a whole show about them! The main leads had okay chemistry but the side dynamics felt richer. Still, the movie is short and worth watching for those who appreciate flawed but heartfelt stories.
