Before I Love You: Rain x Storm is a tender and achingly sweet Thai short film that captures the dizzying intensity of a first crush. Freshman Rain is utterly captivated by his senior Storm—following him across campus, collecting discarded trinkets as precious mementos, and even planting a love confession sign on Storm's car. But when Storm finally confronts him, Rain panics and denies everything, sending Storm away in hurt and confusion. This low-budget gem from the Before I Love You trilogy thrives on its pure, cliché-ridden charm, portraying the vulnerability and courage it takes to admit your feelings when the object of your affection is right in front of you. With a runtime that feels like a stolen moment, it's a bittersweet, fluffy watch that reminds us why puppy love stories never get old.

I'm a sucker for these soft, cliché university BLs, and this one hit all the right notes! Rain's obsessive pining was adorable (yes, I know it's technically stalking but it's played so sweetly), and the confession scene made my heart flutter. It's short, cute, and exactly what I needed after a long day.

I get the appeal, but the writing is really thin. Rain's behavior is textbook stalking, and the film treats it as romantic without any real introspection. The acting is stiff and the chemistry barely exists. It's a nice time killer if you're bored, but don't expect depth.

For a short film shot on a tiny budget, the visual storytelling is charming. The camera lingers on Rain's collection of mementos in a way that conveys his obsession without words. A bit more dynamic lighting would have elevated it, but I appreciate the effort to create mood with limited resources.

I struggled with this one because the 'romance' is built on surveillance and invasion of privacy. Rain follows Storm, takes his things, puts a sign on his car without permission—and it's all framed as cute. I understand it's fiction, but we need to hold BL stories to higher standards of healthy behavior. Not for me.

Out of the three Before I Love You shorts, this one is definitely the best. The plot is simple, but the actors sell the awkwardness of a first crush really well. It's not groundbreaking, but it's earnest and heartfelt. I've rewatched it a couple times when I need a quick smile.
