Because of You is a charming, bite-sized Taiwanese BL that delivers three love stories in one tight, ten-episode package. The Yuan family is anything but ordinary: three half-brothers—Jun Cheng, Jun Dao, and Jun Ping—share the same wealthy father but have different mothers, setting the stage for rivalry, resentment, and unexpected bonds. When their father receives word of a possible fourth son from a past love, he sends the brothers on a mission to find him. That mission leads to the mysterious Lin Xun, a hardworking young man who accidentally crosses paths with the eldest brother, Jun Cheng, a half-Korean heir with a possessive streak. As the brothers navigate their tangled family dynamics, each finds himself drawn to someone special: Jun Cheng to the stubborn Lin Xun, Jun Dao to his long-suffering best friend Yang Xiang, and Jun Ping to his loyal classmate Yan Yue. What follows is a whirlwind of confessions, comedic clashes, and tender moments—all packed into episodes barely 15 minutes long. Despite the short runtime, the series manages to capture the emotional core of each relationship, focusing on acceptance, found family, and the courage to love without fear. The bilingual dialogue (Korean and Mandarin) adds a unique flavor, and the lack of homophobic drama makes it a refreshing, feel-good watch. If you’re looking for a quick, sweet escape with multiple couples and a dash of drama, Because of You is your perfect afternoon binge.

I absolutely loved this! The main couple, Jun Cheng and Lin Xun, have this fire-and-ice chemistry that had me grinning the whole time. Yes, it's short, but that's part of its charm—no dragging, just pure sweetness. The way Lin Xun is not impressed by Jun Cheng's rich boy antics is hilarious. And the side couples? I actually adored the second brother's story with his best friend; the possessiveness turned into something really tender. Sure, the pacing is rushed, but who cares when the feels are this good? A perfect Monday mood booster.

Honestly, I watched this for the side couple (Jun Dao and Yang Xiang) and I wasn't disappointed. Their dynamic—'my family owns you' to lovers—is dark and angsty, and I wish they'd gotten more screen time. The main couple is cute but a bit too fast. The youngest brother's couple felt irrelevant. The production is shaky and the script needed work, but for a quick fix of possessive love, it scratches the itch. If you're a second-couple enthusiast like me, skip to their scenes.

I can't ignore the huge logical leaps. The kidnapping scene in episode one sets a really creepy tone that the show never addresses—suddenly the rich guy is just 'romantic'? The whole 'is he my brother?' subplot is dropped after two episodes. And three couples in 150 minutes means nobody gets proper development. The acting from the main leads is decent, but the script does them no favors. If you want a quick laugh and don't care about plot, go ahead. But if you need your stories to make sense, skip this.

Visually, this show has its moments. The lighting in the rooftop confession scene is lovely, and the color grading feels warm and nostalgic. But the editing is choppy—you can tell they cut corners to fit the runtime. Some shots linger too long, others are jarringly abrupt. The Korean-Taiwanese bilingual setup is interesting, but the subtitles often don't match the tone. It's not ugly, but it's not polished. Worth a watch if you appreciate indie production aesthetics, but don't expect high cinematic quality.

The opening theme is an absolute bop! I have it on repeat. The background score during the romantic montages really amplifies the emotions. Sure, the plot is flimsy, but the music carries the mood perfectly. The sound mixing could be better—sometimes dialogue is too quiet—but overall, the soundtrack made this a pleasant watch. I'd listen to the OST even if I didn't watch the show.

I'm genuinely uncomfortable with how this show romanticizes kidnapping and coercion. Jun Cheng literally ties up Lin Xun in episode 2, and everyone treats it as a quirky meet-cute. The power imbalance is never examined. Also, the only female character of note is a predatory sister who drugs someone—really? It's 2020, we can do better. The lack of any 'I'm gay' panic is nice, but that doesn't excuse the toxic behavior being framed as romance. Hard pass from me.

I don't care what the critics say—this show made my heart flutter! Jun Cheng is the ultimate possessive, rich, handsome lead, and Lin Xun is the feisty one who gives him a run for his money. Their kiss in episode 8? I screamed. The brothers' bickering is hilarious, and seeing them all find love together is so satisfying. Yes, it's rushed, but I'd rather have this condensed joy than a slow-burn that loses steam. Rewatched three times already!

As a Taiwanese BL fan, I wanted to support local productions, but this feels like a missed opportunity. The concept—three gay brothers in one family—is original, but it's executed like a first draft. The dialogue is clunky, the acting is uneven (Lee Shi Kang is good but often over-directed), and the side couples are caricatures. The language switching is a neat idea but poorly integrated. That said, it's not unwatchable. It's a decent time-passer if you're desperate for BL content. I'd recommend HIStory3: Trapped over this any day.
