Hae Ju is a struggling freelance video producer drowning in debt, while Ji An is an aspiring actor who can't catch a break. When a viral video accidentally frames them as a romantic couple, they decide to lean into the lie. Launching a YouTube channel as a fake gay couple proves to be an instant hit, bringing in much-needed income and visibility. But as their on-screen chemistry deepens and their carefully crafted personas start to blur with reality, the line between performance and genuine feeling becomes dangerously thin. This 8-episode Korean BL miniseries explores the vulnerability of pretending to be in love—and the terrifying risk of falling for real. With tender performances from Kim Jin Kwon and Kim Ye Chan, *Because I Want You* is a heartfelt, slow-burn romance that asks: what happens when a business arrangement becomes the most honest thing in your life?

I am OBSESSED. Hae Ju and Ji An have the most beautiful slow-burn romance I've seen in a while—every stolen glance, every accidental hand brush had me screaming. The YouTube channel concept is so cute and modern. I rewatched the confession scene like five times. Give me more!

The lighting and color grading are surprisingly polished for a low-budget web drama. The scenes inside their shared apartment have this warm, golden hue that contrasts beautifully with the cold, fluorescent lights of the YouTube studio. The director knows how to frame intimacy without being gratuitous.

I enjoyed the chemistry, but the pacing dragged in episodes 4 and 5. Some subplots (like the rival actor) felt half-baked and resolved too quickly. The final payoff is sweet, but I wish the script had tightened the secondary characters' arcs. Still a pleasant watch for trope lovers.

I appreciate that the show addresses the financial and social pressures that make a fake relationship seem like a viable option for queer people. The leads are careful about consent and boundaries early on. However, I wish they'd explored the ethical implications of lying to their audience a bit more deeply.

The OST is an absolute gem. The main theme 'Because I Want You' plays at just the right emotional moments, and the indie acoustic tracks during their vlog montages are so fitting. I've been listening to the OST on repeat for days—it perfectly captures the hopeful yet nervous energy of falling in love.
