In the vibrant Thai miniseries 'Beating Again', dreams and dance intertwine to tell a story of resilience, identity, and the unbreakable bonds forged through passion. Former dance champion Dindaen now channels his love for movement into volunteer teaching, carrying the weight of a decade-old trauma. Enter Nai, a young dancer who idolizes Dindaen as a hero, and Focus, a confident pop idol returning to her hometown after a scandal. Together with a misfit group of LGBTQ+ dancers—including a trans woman facing rejection, a teen balancing school and dance, and a blossoming gay romance between Kai and Famous—they create a found family that turns an abandoned space into a stage. Through underground dance battles and heartfelt confrontations, each character must confront homophobia, societal judgment, and personal demons to reclaim their dreams. With poetic direction and raw emotion, this 4-episode gem celebrates the triumph of authenticity and the healing power of community.

I'm completely swooning over the slow-burn romance between Nai and Dindaen. Their chemistry is electric, and every dance scene feels like a love confession. The way they support each other's dreams while healing old wounds had me crying happy tears. A perfect watch for hopeless romantics like me!

As a side couple enthusiast, Kai and Famous absolutely stole the show for me. Their shy glances and tentative touches were so pure, and the temple lunch scene where Tawan teases them about being 'sweet' was everything. I just wish we got more screen time for them! Still, their arc felt complete and emotionally satisfying.

The emotional beats land well, but the 4-episode runtime really rushes things. Focus's scandal is barely explained, and some character motivations feel thin. The dance sequences are great, but the plot relies too much on coincidence. If you can overlook pacing issues, it's a feel-good drama, but don't expect deep plotting.

The director Aum Natthaphong brings his signature visual style from 'Triage'—every frame is carefully composed with gorgeous color grading and meaningful camera movement. The scene where the group pours paint on the floor to create a makeshift dance stage is a masterpiece of lighting and choreography. A treat for the eyes.

I appreciate how the series tackles trans identity through Jidrid's story without making her a tragedy. The homophobia is shown realistically but balanced with moments of fierce solidarity. The message that you can't give up your passion because of others' ignorance resonates deeply. It's not perfect, but it's important and genuine.
