In this poignant special episode of *Be Loved in House*, the past and present converge when Yi Zi Tong vanishes once more, leaving behind a USB drive for Jin Yu Zhen. Inside is a heartfelt video message and old footage that forces Yu Zhen to revisit the seven-year-old love story he tried to bury. Through a series of flashbacks, we finally witness the raw, unfiltered romance between a younger, carefree Yu Zhen and the enigmatic Zi Tong—their shared dreams, tender moments, and the heartbreaking car accident that tore them apart. As Yu Zhen watches these memories, he grapples with unresolved feelings while also reflecting on how far he’s come with his current partner, Shi Lei. The special offers a deeper understanding of Yu Zhen’s emotional scars and the reasons behind his guarded heart, all while celebrating the healing power of new love. Bittersweet and visually stunning, this standalone episode is essential viewing for anyone craving emotional closure and a fuller portrait of Yu Zhen’s journey toward happiness.

I actually loved this special! Finally we get to see why Yu Zhen was so broken. The chemistry between him and Zi Tong is electric—way more intense than with Shi Lei, honestly. Aaron Lai and Deyn Li deserve their own drama. Yes, I wanted more Shi Lei too, but this backstory made the whole series richer for me. A beautiful, heartbreaking tragedy.

Objectively, this episode is a narrative misstep. Spending 40+ minutes on an ex after the main couple already resolved their arc undercuts the emotional payoff of the series. The acting is fine, but the pacing drags and the flashbacks feel like filler. Should have been a 10-minute flashback inserted into the main show, not a standalone special that leaves a sour taste.

The soundtrack in this special is absolutely gorgeous—the way 'You're My Comma' plays during the car accident scene broke me. I almost cried. But I wish there had been more new music instead of reused tracks from the series. Still, the score elevates the bittersweet mood perfectly. A mixed bag story-wise, but a treat for the ears.

I came for Shi Lei and Yu Zhen, and got an entire episode about the ex. Where’s the side couple development? Where’s the fluff? This felt like a betrayal to everyone who rooted for the main romance. Zi Tong gets more screen time here than Shi Lei got in three episodes. Disappointing and unnecessary. Just watch the fan edits instead.

I appreciate that the show doesn’t villainize Zi Tong—he’s allowed to be a flawed, complex person who still cares for Yu Zhen. That’s mature storytelling. However, I find the power dynamic uncomfortable: Zi Tong essentially comes back to 'fix' Yu Zhen and give his blessing to move on. It undermines Yu Zhen’s agency. Not terrible, but could have handled consent and closure better.
