In this compact Thai BL miniseries from 2017, Pun is a hot-headed middle schooler whose constant fights with Win—his girlfriend Fah’s ex—push Fah away. What begins as a messy love triangle of jealousy and breakups takes an unexpected turn when Pun’s older neighbor, Porsche, steps in. The series quickly reveals that ‘brother’ doesn’t mean blood; it’s a Thai term for close friendship. As Pun navigates conflicting emotions and a volatile love square, the story shifts from straight romance to a heartfelt queer awakening. With only five episodes, the plot moves fast, packing in sudden twists, a manipulative ex, and an ending that leaves viewers debating. Despite its low budget and amateur feel, Bad Brother captures raw, unpolished emotion—perfect for those who crave a quick, angsty distraction with a hint of nostalgia.

I actually really liked the chemistry between Pun and Porsche. Sure, it's super low-budget and the acting is rough, but their soft moments together felt genuine. The ending broke my heart though—why couldn't they just talk it out? Still, for a quick fix of angsty romance, this hit the spot.

The plot jumps around like it's missing entire episodes. Pun goes from obsessing over Fah to suddenly being into Porsche with zero development. The twist with Fah being manipulative was the only interesting part, but even that was rushed. It's fine as a time-killer, but don't expect coherence.

I struggled with how normalised the violence and emotional manipulation is here. Pun and Win constantly fight, Fah toys with everyone's feelings, and the love square is built on jealousy rather than healthy communication. For a show exploring queer identity, it misses the mark on modelling respectful relationships.

Oof, the production value is rough. Constant daytime scenes with flat lighting, zero colour grading, and that infamous 'black car of death' that feels like a joke. But I actually appreciate how the simple framing keeps focus on the actors' faces—no distracting filters. It's visually amateur but honest.
