In the charming Thai short film 'As Always', three university students—Phukan, Bell, and Paper—are thrown together for an art school project that becomes the backdrop for a tender, unspoken romance. Phukan, a sweet and slightly awkward guy, finds himself drawn to Paper's quiet charm, but he's paralyzed by the fear of confessing his feelings. With the ever-supportive Bell cheering him on (and maybe playing a little matchmaker), Phukan navigates museum visits, shared assignments, and stolen glances, all while wondering if Paper could ever feel the same. What makes this short film special is its gentle, slice-of-life approach—it doesn't overcomplicate things. Instead, it captures that fluttery, nervous energy of a first crush and the joy of discovering that the person you like might just like you back. Clocking in at just 17 minutes, 'As Always' is a sweet, low-stakes LGBTQ+ romance that feels like a warm hug, perfect for a quick dose of feel-good vibes.

I absolutely loved this little short! It's so soft and fluffy—exactly what I needed on a lazy afternoon. The chemistry between Phukan and Paper is adorable, and Bell is the best wingwoman ever. The confession scene gave me butterflies! Sure, it's not groundbreaking, but it's pure and sweet, and that's enough for me.

I appreciate the attempt, but this short falls flat. The plot is wafer-thin—group project, crush, confession—and the acting feels stiff, especially in the first half. The dialogue is clunky, and I couldn't connect with the characters at all. It's watchable for 17 minutes, but there are far better Thai BL shorts out there.

Visually, I enjoyed the dreamy, slightly blurry cinematography—it gives the film a nostalgic, almost memory-like quality. The art museum scenes are nicely shot, and the soft color palette fits the mood. However, the constant sound effects (like those swoosh noises) really bugged me. Still, for a low-budget short, it has a charming aesthetic.

I appreciated that the story focuses on mutual feelings and supportive friendship rather than one-sided pining or toxic tropes. Bell's encouragement and the respectful confession scene are nice. But the film doesn't really explore any deeper themes—it's just a surface-level crush. It's harmless, but I wish it had more substance.

The moment they used PP Krit and Billkin's 'Same As Usual' for the confession scene, I melted! That song is pure magic, and it fits the shy, romantic vibe perfectly. The soundtrack elevates the entire short. I actually discovered this film because I was looking for covers of that song—and it did not disappoint.
