I'm a sucker for slow-burn romance and this film delivered every aching glance and whispered confession perfectly. Andy Wang's eyes hold so much pain and love—I felt their connection deeply. The ending broke me but in a beautiful way. Highly recommend if you love emotional, realistic love stories.

I appreciate the sincere attempt at portraying queer love, but the pacing drags terribly and the secondary characters feel like cardboard cutouts. The central conflict—family pressure—is resolved too abruptly. It feels like a student film with great intentions but amateur execution. Could have been so much tighter.

The color grading is gorgeous—soft, desaturated tones that mirror the melancholic mood. There's a scene shot through rain-streaked glass that I replayed three times. The lighting is naturalistic, almost documentary-like. Not a perfect film, but visually it captures a quiet, aching beauty that stays with you.

I wanted to love this for its honest depiction of internalized homophobia and the pressure to hide one's identity. But I struggled with how the film frames secrecy as romantic rather than unhealthy. There's no real discussion of consent or safety in their relationship. Still, it's a valuable artifact of early Chinese BL cinema.

The piano theme that plays during their first night together is heartbreakingly simple and perfect. It carries the entire emotional weight of the scene. I wish the soundtrack was more varied—there's only two recurring motifs—but what's there is used with restraint and emotional intelligence. I downloaded it immediately.
