In the bustling world of a Tokyo advertising agency, IT specialist Hirofumi and fast-track elite Shinji couldn't be more different. Their first encounter is a disaster of clashing personalities—Hirofumi’s awkward, earnest demeanor grates against Shinji’s polished, no-nonsense attitude. But as they're forced to collaborate on a high-pressure campaign, tiny cracks appear in their frosty exterior. Late nights at the office, shared cigarettes on the rooftop, and a mysterious Matryoshka doll that Shinji treasures begin to unravel hidden layers of longing, jealousy, and vulnerability. This isn't a direct sequel to the first *Ai no Kotodama*—it's a standalone story that explores the messy, quiet ache of falling for someone you thought you'd never understand. Directed with a delicate, almost painterly eye, the film lets silences speak louder than words, capturing the tension of unspoken feelings and the slow-burn thrill of two lonely souls finding each other in the most unlikely of places.

I adored this movie. It's not flashy or fast-paced, but that's exactly why I loved it. The way Hirofumi and Shinji slowly open up to each other, with just looks and small gestures, felt so real. That final rooftop scene? My heart melted. Yes, it's old-school Japanese BL, but the emotion is timeless.

I get what they were going for, but the execution falls flat. Hirofumi's awkwardness is so overdone it's painful to watch, and Shinji's tsundere act just comes off as mean. The Matryoshka doll symbolism is nice in theory, but the story doesn't build to anything satisfying. A slog to get through.

This film is a visual treat. The soft lighting, the framing of Hirofumi against the gray office windows, the way shadows play across Shinji's face during their arguments—it's like a moving watercolor. I'd watch it on mute just for the colors. Too bad the acting is a little stiff, but the director's eye saves it.

I found the power dynamic deeply troubling. Shinji constantly belittles Hirofumi, who just smiles and takes it—that's not romance, it's emotional manipulation. The film never questions this behavior or gives Hirofumi any real agency. For a love story, it lacks basic respect between partners. Disappointing.

The music is the unsung hero here. The piano theme that swells during the quiet moments, the haunting guitar track in the final act—it carries the emotional weight that the dialogue sometimes misses. I've been streaming the OST on repeat for weeks. Worth watching just for the soundscape.
