Ai, a charismatic and wealthy Thai university student, is forced to return home after being expelled from studying abroad for fighting. His father, a professor, enrolls him in his own university, where Ai’s life takes an unexpected turn when he lays eyes on Chen Nhai—a chaotic, adorable, and utterly disorganized fellow student who rides a Harley Davidson and seems to live in his own world. Smitten at first sight, Ai finds himself utterly captivated by Nhai’s infectious charm and obliviousness. But Nhai, who initially thinks he’s straight, is a high-maintenance whirlwind of clumsiness, forgetfulness, and endearing selfishness. After a drunken encounter at a party, the two enter a one-month trial relationship to see if Ai can truly tolerate Nhai’s relentless antics. What follows is a sweet, fluff-filled journey of self-discovery, communication, and growing affection. With a supportive friend group, an unconventional family including Ai’s two loving gay fathers, and minimal angst, “Ai Long Nhai” is a light-hearted, slice-of-life romance that proves sometimes love is just about finding someone who thinks your flaws are adorable. The series prioritizes healthy communication and consent over melodrama, offering a feel-good escape into a world where love blooms without toxic obstacles.

I absolutely adored this! Ai and Nhai are just the cutest couple ever—I couldn't stop smiling. Yes, there's barely any plot, but who needs plot when you have two people who communicate and a relationship this healthy? The way Ai looks at Nhai melted my heart. Plus, the representation with Ai's dads was so beautiful to see. This is my new comfort watch, perfect for when I need something sweet and low-stakes.

I don't get the hype. This series is 12 episodes of nothing happening. They introduce multiple side couples and then abandon them. Ai's mother disappears after causing drama. Nhai is supposedly an aerospace engineering student but acts like a toddler. The dialogue is painfully simplistic and the acting is wooden. I appreciate the lack of toxicity, but that's not enough to carry a show. If you want a real story, look elsewhere.

I came for the main couple but stayed for the potential of the side characters—only to be disappointed. There were hints of so many interesting secondary relationships (Tonhon and Chonlatee, Porsche and Arm), but they were barely developed. I wanted more! The main couple is cute but a bit boring after a while. Give me a spin-off with the side couples please!

As someone who read the novel, I was hoping for more depth. The adaptation simplified the characters and cut out a lot of the humor and nuance. Nhai in the book was endearingly messy but still had some wit; here he's just brainless. The side plots from the novel were either removed or made incoherent. It's not terrible as a standalone fluff piece, but fans of the source material will be let down.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I'm thrilled to see a BL that emphasizes consent—Ai checks in with Nhai repeatedly during their first time, and aftercare is shown. That's rare and important. Also, bisexual representation and gay parents are huge pluses. On the other hand, there are some uncomfortable scenes: non-consensual photo taking, manipulation by the mother, and a kiss while Nhai is asleep. These are problematic and not addressed critically. It's a step forward but still has flaws.

Honestly, I can't even remember the music. That's a bad sign for me—I usually latch onto BL soundtracks. The OST was generic and forgettable, with no standout songs. The background scoring felt repetitive and didn't enhance the emotional scenes. A shame because a good soundtrack can elevate even a weak plot. This series needed more musical identity.

Visually, it's a mixed bag. Some scenes are nicely lit and framed, especially the outdoor shots with the Harley. But the interior sets look sparse and cheap—Ai's condo has no personality, and the university feels like a hallway. The color palette is too monochrome. There were some nice close-ups during emotional moments, but overall the cinematography is bland and static. Not a feast for the eyes.

Wait, where's the action? I saw BL and thought maybe some fights, maybe a gangster subplot? This is just two guys being cute and going camping. I fell asleep. If you want actual stakes and adrenaline, skip this. It's pure fluff with zero tension.
