I absolutely melted at the way Mitsuomi and Yamato's relationship unfolded. No grand gestures, just quiet moments - a shared bike ride, a head on a shoulder - that felt more romantic than any dramatic confession. Furukawa and Ryusei had such natural chemistry, and I smiled through the entire second half.

As a fan of the manga, I appreciated how the film filled in some gaps and gave Yamato more backstory. But the pacing dragged in the middle, and the ending felt rushed. The actors did well with what they had, but the screenplay could have used more showing and less telling. Still a solid adaptation overall.

The color grading alone is worth the watch - cold blues slowly warming to golden hues as Mitsuomi opens up. Shots of the misty hills, the soft light through the farm windows, and that final bus ride scene... pure visual poetry. A masterclass in using environment to mirror emotional arcs.

I loved that this film didn't frame being gay as a crisis - it's just two people finding love in a supportive rural community. Mitsuomi's journey with his father and his own self-worth was handled with nuance. The adoption storyline could have been more explored, but the focus on healing and belonging felt authentic and important.

I wanted to love it because the setup is promising, but the execution felt too safe. Characters are painted with broad strokes - the cheerful farm boy with hidden pain is a trope we've seen before, and the conflicts resolve too easily. The Irish folk soundtrack was also jarring against the Japanese setting. Not bad, just forgettable.
