A Trilogy of Love Stories is a heartfelt Filipino anthology film that weaves together three distinct but thematically connected short films, each exploring the diverse faces of gay love in the modern world. The first, 'Young Love,' captures the innocence and turbulence of a teenage romance navigating first heartbreak and the pressure to leave home. The second, 'A Love Story in the Time of HIV,' bravely examines intimacy, stigma, and resilience when a couple faces an HIV diagnosis. The final chapter (unnamed in the synopsis) delves into disability and chasing dreams, showcasing how love can flourish despite physical and emotional barriers. Dedicated to the memory of legendary actor Bernardo Bernardo (who stars in one segment), the film is a tender, gender-sensitive tribute that balances bittersweet moments with quiet hope. Through its omnibus structure, it offers a nuanced, slice-of-life look at LGBTQ+ experiences in the Philippines, celebrating both the pain and the beauty of loving and being loved.

I cried so much during the HIV segment – the love between the leads felt so real and raw. The final short with the disabled character also warmed my heart. Yes, some parts drag, but the emotional payoff is worth it. A beautiful tribute to Bernardo Bernardo.

I appreciate the effort to tackle important issues, but the three shorts vary wildly in quality. 'Young Love' felt rushed and cliché, while the HIV story was melodramatic at times. The disability segment had the strongest writing but still suffered from uneven pacing. Worth a watch for representation, not for flawless storytelling.

This film is a landmark for Filipino LGBTQ+ cinema in how it handles HIV without shaming and portrays a disabled character with agency. The consent and communication in the relationships are handled well, though the infidelity plotline could have used more nuance. Overall, a meaningful watch that sparks important conversations.

The visual storytelling in this anthology is stunning – soft natural lighting in 'Young Love,' stark clinical tones in the HIV short, and warm intimate close-ups in the finale. Each segment feels like its own visual poem. The camera work alone elevated the emotional impact for me.

I came for the romance but left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The couples didn't have enough screen time to build the chemistry I craved. The side stories were interesting, but I wanted more sweet moments. Not bad, just not my favorite style of BL.
