In the competitive world of high school archery, Lee Da Yeol is an island unto himself. A scholarship student and an ace archer, he finds solace in the quiet focus of the sport, using it as a shield against the chaos of teenage life. His carefully constructed world shatters when a misunderstanding with Cho Tae Hyeon, the school's charismatic and troubled popular student, threatens his scholarship and his fragile peace. What begins as a clash of opposites—the introverted archer and the extroverted bully—gradually unravels into a raw, emotional exploration of trauma, identity, and the desperate need for human connection. A Shoulder to Cry On is not a typical fluffy romance; it's a psychological drama that dares to ask: can two broken people find healing in each other? As Tae Hyeon's cruel facade cracks to reveal deep childhood wounds and Da Yeol questions his own path, their relationship becomes a lifeline. With a stunning visual aesthetic that mirrors the characters' emotional states and a soundtrack that amplifies every poignant moment, this 2023 K-BL miniseries is a bold step forward for the genre. It's a story about learning to ask for help, forgiving the unforgivable, and discovering that sometimes, the strongest thing you can do is lean on someone else.

I don't care what anyone says—this is a masterpiece. The way Tae Hyeon and Da Yeol slowly learn to trust each other had me sobbing. Yes, there's no kiss, but the ear kiss at the end was more intimate than any 10-second lip-lock. Their chemistry is unreal because they're real-life bandmates, and you can feel that bond. If you watch BL only for steam, go watch something else. This is for people who want a real, aching love story.

I appreciate the attempt at serious themes, but the execution falls flat. The pacing in the first half is solid, but the last two episodes are a mess—random time skips, a rushed reconciliation, and a bewildering final episode that feels like a different show. Da Yeol forgives Tae Hyeon way too easily after being treated like dirt. The psychology is surface-level at best. Decent for a first watch, but don't expect a masterpiece.

Visually, this drama is a dream. The soft, gauzy filter, the golden hour archery scenes, the way the camera lingers on the actors' expressions—it's stunning. The OST is also beautifully melancholic, perfectly complementing the mood. However, the story needed more room to breathe. I wish the cinematography had been paired with equally nuanced writing. Nonetheless, I'm glad I watched it for the aesthetic alone.

As a fan of the original webtoon, I am deeply disappointed. The adaptation stripped away all the nuance, changed key scenes, and made Tae Hyeon's trauma feel like an afterthought. The 'nurse's office' scene from the source material was completely sanitized, which undermines the entire story. The actors did their best, but the script failed them. If you haven't read the manhwa, you might enjoy this more, but for purists like me, it's a letdown.

I'm a sucker for OSTs, and this one delivers. Every track hits right in the feels—the instrumental pieces during the archery scenes are especially stirring. The emotional highs and lows are amplified by the music. I found myself rewatching just to listen to the background score again. Even if the plot has flaws, the sound design makes it worth the watch for any music lover.

From a social perspective, this series raises important issues but then sidesteps them. The bullying is romanticized in early episodes, and Tae Hyeon's behavior is excused because of his trauma without actual accountability or therapy. The lack of any real resolution to his toxic patterns is troubling. And let's talk about queerbaiting—teasing a gay romance for 6 episodes then giving us a chaste ear kiss? It's 2023. We deserve better representation than this.

I came for the Omega X members and stayed for the emotional rollercoaster. Yes, the ending is rushed, but the journey is beautiful. Tae Hyeon's character growth—from a bully to a vulnerable mess who learns to ask for help—is everything. I've watched this three times already. People complaining about no kiss need to understand that some stories are about healing, not physicality. This is a must-watch for real BL fans.

I wanted to love this, but it felt like the production was afraid of its own premise. The actors are clearly talented, but the script holds them back. The time jumps in episode 7 are a narrative cop-out. Two guys alone on a beach trip acting like nervous virgins after years together? Unbelievable. I understand the restrictions on idol actors, but then don't make a BL if you can't commit. A frustrating waste of potential.
