Tojo Suzume, a 39-year-old office worker whose life has settled into a quiet routine between his desk and his apartment, suddenly realizes he's only three months away from turning 40. Struck by a quiet existential crisis, he scribbles down a whimsical '10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40' list—from eating a towering parfait to finding love again. Enter Tanaka Keishi, his younger, effortlessly confident coworker who offers to help him check off each item. What starts as a sweet, almost childlike adventure soon blossoms into a tender, slow-burn romance that forces Suzume to confront his fears, embrace vulnerability, and ask himself if it's ever too late to start living. Blending the cozy charm of Japanese slice-of-life with the emotional weight of a midlife awakening, this series is as much about self-discovery as it is about falling in love—with all the awkward, adorable, and heartbreaking steps in between.

I absolutely fell for Suzume and Keishi! Their height difference, the way Keishi gently teased him, and that final kiss made my heart flutter. Yes, the middle episodes dragged a bit, but the ending was so worth it. This is exactly the kind of soft, warm BL I needed.

Started strong with a promising premise, but after episode 7 the show forgot its own list. The filler episodes about side characters felt like padding, and Suzume's stubborn refusal to communicate became infuriating. If you cut the last 4 episodes down to 2, you'd have a solid 8/10 drama. As it is, it's just okay.

Visually, this drama is a treat—warm lighting, cozy apartment sets, and soft focus shots that make every café scene feel like a hug. The use of Suzume's plushies as emotional props was clever. But the inconsistent pacing and distracting side plots undermined the beautiful cinematography.

As a huge fan of the manga, I was so excited—and then disappointed. The drama cut out important intimate moments that were essential to the characters' growth, and added irrelevant filler. Keishi felt watered down, and the whole 'list' theme became an afterthought. The manga is superior in every way.

The OST is the real star here! 'Sumire' by chevon is on repeat for me—it perfectly captures Suzume's bittersweet longing. The background piano during their quiet moments added so much emotion. I almost forgive the pacing issues because the music carried the emotional weight so beautifully.
