On the bustling first day of university, Typhoon (Phoon) has a heart-stopping encounter: his old high school crush, Dan, is in the same freshman class. Phoon has secretly harbored feelings for years, convinced his affection was one-sided and long forgotten. This short, sweet indie miniseries follows their tentative reconnection, weaving flashbacks to their shared past and present-day awkward glances. With the help of a wonderfully supportive friend group—including a refreshingly non-clichéd female friend and an instantly invested male buddy—Phoon slowly realizes that maybe Dan remembers him, too. What sets '2nd Chance' apart is its earnest focus on communication: the final episode prioritizes honest conversation over dramatic misunderstandings. Clocking in at just three 15-minute episodes, this is a compact, heartwarming tale of second chances, youthful nostalgia, and the courage to speak your truth. Though produced on a modest budget, the genuine chemistry between the leads and the charmingly illustrated intro sequences make this a delightful watch for anyone craving a feel-good, low-commitment BL.

I'm such a sucker for high school crushes getting a second chance, and this delivered all the shy smiles and butterflies I wanted! Phoon and Dan's chemistry felt so real despite the short runtime, and I loved how they actually talked things out instead of stretching a misunderstanding for three episodes. The friend group was hilarious too – that scene where the male friend instantly switches his attention made me laugh out loud. Totally recommend if you need a quick dose of fluff.

I appreciate the effort, but the voice-over exposition dumps and the poorly explained flashback gap really pulled me out of the story. Why didn't Dan see Phoon after that one moment? It's a hole that never gets filled. Also, the production audio had some distracting rubbing noises. Still, for a first indie attempt, the emotional core is there, and the final conversation is satisfying. It's decent but not groundbreaking.

Visually, this is a mixed bag. The illustrated intro sequences are adorable and give the series a unique identity, but the live-action scenes suffer from poor lighting, especially in the final night scene where the actors' faces are barely visible. The camera work is simple but functional. With a bit more attention to lighting and sound design, the next project from this team could be really impressive. Cute story though.

The soundtrack and background music here are subtle but perfectly matched the nostalgic tone. I particularly loved the soft guitar riff that plays during the flashbacks – it instantly makes you feel like you're back in high school. The ending song with its gentle lyrics about waiting and meeting again really tied the whole story together. A shame there aren't more tracks, but what's there works beautifully.

What a breath of fresh air in BL! This series models healthy communication from start to finish. Phoon doesn't push Dan, Dan makes his feelings clear without pressure, and both friends support without manipulating. There's no forced physical contact, no 'I'll make you jealous' nonsense. The resolution comes from an honest conversation that respects both characters' boundaries. For a short indie show, that's a massive win. I hope more writers take notes.
