Seventeen-year-old Phum's world is turned upside down when he transfers to a new school, haunted by a secret he's carried since birth: he is HIV-positive. Already an introvert, Phum expects isolation and judgment, but instead finds himself drawn to the school's notorious rebel, Chaow. Chaow is loud, reckless, and everything Phum isn't, but beneath the bravado lies a loneliness that mirrors Phum's own. As they're forced together for a group project, an unexpected friendship blooms into something deeper. '17th Spring' is a tender, slow-burn romance that tackles stigma with grace while celebrating the quiet power of acceptance. Through stolen glances, shared vulnerabilities, and first loves, this Thai BL reminds us that everyone deserves a chance to bloom—no matter what shadows they carry.

I cried so much watching Phum and Chaow. Their connection felt so real, and the way they slowly opened up to each other melted my heart. The scene where they share earbuds under the tree? Perfection. This is exactly the kind of soft, emotional BL I live for.

I appreciate the meaningful HIV representation, but the pacing drags in the middle episodes. Some side character arcs feel underdeveloped, and the resolution wraps up a bit too neatly. Still, the leads have good chemistry and the message is important. Worth watching for the feels, not the plot.

Finally a BL that handles HIV stigma with nuance and doesn't use it as a tragedy device. The show emphasizes education, consent, and the importance of support systems. Chaow's growth from reckless to understanding is beautifully done. Only minor gripes with some outdated slang used by supporting characters.

The warm golden-hour lighting and soft color grading give this series a nostalgic, almost dreamy feel. The rooftop scenes are visually stunning, and the close-ups during emotional moments are perfectly framed. It's not the most innovative cinematography, but it serves the tender story well.

I was hoping for a side couple with a bit more edge, but the friends are mostly comic relief. The main romance is sweet but a little too pure for my taste. I wish there was more tension or angst between the leads. Still, it's a decent watch if you enjoy soft, healing stories.
